    Description

    The IGCSE Pearson Edexcel Science Double Award  curriculum is designed to develop the bridge year 9 students’ scientific knowledge, understanding, and skills through a blend of theoretical study and applied learning. provides a rigorous and comprehensive education in the core sciences of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Students explore fundamental concepts, scientific principles, and their applications in real-world contexts, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The Double Award offers a balanced and integrated approach to science education, preparing students for further scientific study and equipping them with the analytical skills essential for various academic and career paths.

    The course is designed for children aged 13 – 15 and spans 3 terms.

    Term 1: Fundamentals and Foundations

    • Biology: Cell structure and function, biological molecules, enzymes, and basics of nutrition.
    • Chemistry: Atomic structure, periodic table, bonding, and introduction to chemical reactions.
    • Physics: Measurements, motion, forces, and energy concepts.

    Term 2: Expanding Knowledge and Skills

    • Biology: Respiration, photosynthesis, human anatomy basics, and circulatory system.
    • Chemistry: States of matter, mixtures, separating techniques, and introduction to acids and bases.
    • Physics: Waves, sound, light, and thermal physics.

    Term 3: Application and Integration

    • Biology: Reproduction, genetics, evolution, and ecology basics.
    • Chemistry: Reactivity series, metals, non-metals, and basic organic chemistry.
    • Physics: Electricity, magnetism, electromagnetism, and introductory electronics.

    Cost: Ā£952 per year, payable in 8 monthly instalments of Ā£119.00.

    Requirements

    • Age Group: This course is designed for students aged 13-16 years.
    • Prerequisites: Mathematical Skills, Reading Comprehension, Writing Skills, Critical Thinking and an Interest in Science
    • Materials: Texts will be chosen from the Pearson Edexcel literature list, and age level appropriate literature that will prepare students for the GCSE.
