    Term 1: Foundation and Exploration

In the first term, students focus on laying a strong foundation in creative writing. The term begins with introductory activities to spark creativity and overcome writing blocks. Students learn the importance of writing clearly and effectively, and they explore the basics of descriptive writing, character development, and narrative structure. Emphasis is placed on using sensory details, crafting vivid settings, and developing engaging characters. The term concludes with exercises on writing dialogue and understanding the audience, preparing students to write with purpose and intention.

Term 2: Skill Development and Application

The second term is dedicated to honing specific writing skills and applying them in various contexts. Students delve into the art of revision, learn to write precisely, and experiment with different genres, including flash fiction. The term includes focused lessons on writing compelling beginnings and endings, building suspense, and using figurative language to enhance their writing. Peer review sessions become more frequent, allowing students to give and receive constructive feedback. By the end of this term, students are encouraged to create original pieces, further developing their unique voice and tone.

In the final term, students shift their focus towards exam preparation and showcasing their work. They practice structuring responses for GCSE and IGCSE exams, develop persuasive and argumentative writing skills, and learn to write narratives with embedded themes and messages.
